For all Eau Claire County residents serving on jury duty from February 8 through February 19, 2010:
There is one trial scheduled for Wednesday, February 10, 2010 and is expected to last two days. Jurors with Panel Member Number 18 through and including Panel Member Number 58 need to report to the Branch 3 Courtroom no later than 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
The trial will not be canceled due to inclement weather. Please allow yourself adequate driving time. There is parking available on both sides of the courthouse, but please arrive early since parking is limited.
All of the courtrooms are located on the second floor of the Eau Claire County Courthouse. Please do not bring to court with you any gum, food, beverages, cell phones or pagers. If you bring a cell phone or pager it will be secured by staff for the duration of the time you are at the courthouse. Please bring a picture ID to show the jury clerk at the time that you check in for jury duty.
At the time of check-in you will be asked what your round trip mileage is from your home to the courthouse. Please check your mileage on the way to the courthouse.
Jury duty is the obligation of every citizen. “Forgetting” to show up is not an excuse. In fairness to jurors who do show up for jury duty, we are holding those who do not appear accountable for their actions. Consequently, the court will issue a warrant for the arrest of those jurors who fail to appear.

Jury service is a civic duty - one of the highest duties in our Democratic system of government.
State law protects your job. Your employer cannot fire you, demote you, threaten or intimidate you because of jury service.
LENGTH OF SERVICE: Jury duty in Eau Claire County is for a two-week term. You will receive a pre-summons approximately one month prior to your service. If you have a conflict serving any day(s) during this tentative period, you must notify the Clerk in writing no later than the cut off date in the pre-summons. Request to be postponed or excused are based on Vacation Plans, Student Obligations, Medical Reasons and Age.
All information regarding the two weeks of service, panel member number, call in procedure, tentative jury trial schedule and phone number will be provided to you in the SUMMONS. The summons will be mailed at least 12 days prior to the start of your jury service term.
DO I GET PAID? Yes, Every juror summoned is paid an amount set by the county board. Jurors who serve are paid $25.00 for each day of attendance. Jurors who appear but do not serve on a trial will be paid $12.50. The mileage rate is .485 cents per mile for round trip mileage. This is the mileage from your home to the courthouse and then back home.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR? Remember, that as a juror you will be performing one of the highest duties in our democratic system of government, and therefore you should dress appropriately for the occasion. Do not wear tank tops, cut-off shorts, halter-tops or beach shoes/flip-flops or similar clothing.
ITEMS TO LEAVE AT HOME: Please do not bring to court with you any of the following items: food, beverages, cell phones or pagers. Also – please no gum chewing in the courtroom.
