Volunteering for the Meals on Wheels program
Q When are meals delivered? A Monday through Friday, at lunch time.
Q Who can apply to volunteer for Meals on Wheels? A Anyone age 16 or older, who has a car, auto liability insurance and an hour to volunteer at lunch time.
Q What auto liability insurance do you need to volunteer? A A minimum of $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident liability insurance is required.
Q Can people volunteer seasonally or for shorter periods during the year? A Yes
Q Can one person deliver meals alone? A Yes, one person can deliver Meals on Wheels.
Q I don’t know Eau Claire, can I still volunteer? A Yes, we have maps that will help you locate each home. We also provide orientation & training.
Q Can my children volunteer with me to deliver meals? A Yes, parents with children are welcome to deliver meals. It’s a nice family activity and teaches children about community service. The people on the route love to see children.
Q Can schools, church groups, organizations and businesses volunteer? A Yes, a group can volunteer and members can alternate delivering the meals. Each group has a coordinator to schedule their members.
