How & Where to Recycle Specific Materials
Appliances
The following major appliances are banned from Wisconsin landfills because they contain hazardous compounds such as mercury, PCB's and CFC's, or because there are ready markets for recycling them:
- Air Conditioners
- Clothes Washers & Dryers
- Dishwashers
- Dehumidifiers & Humidifiers
- Freezers
- Furnace Boilers
- Microwave Ovens
- Stoves & Ovens
- Refrigerators
- Water Heaters
Appliances in working order may be of value to companies listed in the yellow pages under "appliance repair" for resale purposes. Non-profit organizations and churches may also be in need of such donations.
Recycling and proper disposal of appliances can be done year-round at the following locations: Max Phillips Scrap Yard, Toy's Salvage, Bridge Creek Transfer Station as well as First Choice Recycling. Residents are advised to check with these facilities in advance as to what their disposal fees are.
