Brush Disposal and Mulch
Eau Claire County operates two Brush Disposal Sites, including the Jeffers Road Brush Site in the City of Eau Claire, and the Town of Seymour Brush Site near Sevenmile Creek Landfill.
Sites Close the last Saturday in November and Open the last Saturday in March
The brush sites are for residential use, only. Landscapers, homebuilders, owners and operators of mobile home parks, and other commercial enterprises may not deposit brush at either site.
Materials accepted at both Brush Disposal Sites include: trunks limbs branches corn stalks twigs from trees and shrubs (no larger than 6 inches in diameter and no longer than 6 feet in length)
The sites do not accept grass clippings, leaves, needles from evergreen trees, stumps, or any other type of yard waste.
Brush Disposal Site - Jeffers Road
This facility is located on the north side of the City of Eau Claire on Jeffers Road. From the intersection of the North Crossing/State Road 312, go north on Jeffers Road about 3/4 mile. The facility is on the west side of Jeffers Road.
The days and hours of operation are as follows:
- Tuesdays, from 7:00 am to 10:30 am
- Saturdays, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Brush Disposal Site - Town of Seymour
This facility is located east of the City of Eau Claire on County Highway Q (Olson Drive) in the Town of Seymour, 800' east of Seven Mile Creek Landfill, on the same side of the road as the landfill. Directions to the site are as follows: Take the US Highway 53 bypass to the North Crossing. Go east when you get off the highway. The road will drop from a 4 lane to a two lane road which is County Highway Q. From this point, the brush site is about 3.5 miles east.
Residents are advised that the drop-off area for brush can be muddy if it has been exceptionally wet weather for a couple days in a row before the site is usually open. Vehicles have gotten stuck in the mud. Residents who use the site use it at their own risk of getting stuck.
The hours of operation are as follows:
- Tuesdays -- Noon - 4 p.m.
- Saturdays -- 8:00 a.m. - Noon

Mulch
The brush dropped off at both Brush Disposal Sites is ground into mulch which both residents and businesses may take free of charge. Access is only during the hours of operation listed above. Persons taking mulch must provide their own equipment.
Brush Site Regulations
- You may only bring brush, which is woody vegetative material including trunks, limbs branches and twigs from trees and shrubs. You may also bring corn stalks. You are not required to remove leaves or needles from the branches and twigs.
- Materials that are not accepted include grass, grass clippings, raked leaves or needles from pine, spruce, fir, juniper or arborvitae trees and shrubs, stumps or garden refuse.
- The brush may be no longer than six feet in length.
- The brush may be no larger than six inches in diameter - the length of a dollar bill.
- Use of the site is only during posted hours.
- An attendant is on duty. You must check with the attendant prior to depositing material.
- Foreign material may not be mixed with the brush. If your brush is wrapped in wire or string, you must remove the wire or string or other binding materials and take it with you. No nails, wire fencing or other foreign material will be accepted.
Non-scheduled Hours of Operation
In the event of major windstorms, the brush site may be opened for additional hours to help accommodate the need for homeowners to clean up their yards.
Disposal of Other Yard Waste
The recycling program maintains a list of homeowners and businesses that accept some types of yard wastes. There are some businesses that will pick up brush for a fee. To access the yard waste directory please go to Yard Waste Directory.
