Eau Claire County Recycling Program
How & Where to Recycle Specific Materials
Furniture Updated May 29, 2009
If you have furniture that is in good condition, you have the following options. Unless otherwise noted, all locations are located in Eau Claire.
Furniture Donations:
If you have non-bedding furniture which is in good condition and can be sold as is, consider donating it to Goodwill Industries (3605 Gateway Drive; 835-0532), Savers (2833 Mall Drive in London Square Mall; 835-8500) or contact area churches.
If you have non-bedding furniture which is in good condition and can be sold as is or which can be easily repaired, consider donating it to Hope Gospel Mission (2511 Moholt Drive; 839-3498). They have a pick-up service if you can't bring the items to them.
Junque to Treasures (828-6658) takes old non-bedding furniture and refurbishes it for resale. The business is located on Highway 85 in Rock Falls, 12 miles west of Eau Claire. The shop is open Wednesday - Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. or by appointment
Furniture that you can get paid for:
Furniture To Go (312 E. Madison St; 715-552-3297) will purchase good quality items. You can learn more about the business by visiting their website at: www.furnituretogo.biz
If you have furniture that is not in good condition, it will need to be landfilled. If you have residential garbage service with either Veolia or Waste Management and live in the cities of Eau Claire and Altoona as well as some of the urbanized areas of the surrounding towns, these companies offer limited free bulk item collection for one week in spring and one week in fall.
Other than during these weeks, or if you have service with another company, or if you live outside the free service area, you have the following options:
1. Contact your garbage company and be prepared to pay an additional fee;
2. Bring the item(s) directly to Seven Mile Creek Landfill. You can call them at 715-830-0824 to get a cost estimate.
3. Bring the item(s) to a town transfer station and be prepared to pay a fee.
You can find out which towns have transfer stations, and the phone numbers for the garbage companies, by returning to the main page on the recycling website, and then clicking on the residential garbage link.
