The Eau Claire County Parks & Forest Department announces that water testing results by the City County Health Department indicate that Lake Altoona and Coon Fork Lake Beach water is now within acceptable health standards and are therefore now open for swimming. All public beaches on Eau Claire County land are within acceptable standards and therefore open.
The Eau Claire County Parks & Forest Department announces that water testing results by the City County Health Department indicates Lake Altoona Beach and Coon Fork County Pak have unsafe bacteria levels and is closed effective immediately. Big Falls and Lake Eau Claire beaches are currently within acceptable standards for swimming and therefore open.
The City-County Health Department policy is to close all areas whenever water samples indicate high levels of bacteria above safe standards. The Health Department will retest the area today and the Parks & Forest Department will inform the public when bacteria levels are within acceptable health standards.
