Recycling Charges Changed for 2015

The County has slightly modified how residents will pay for recycling.  The new fee structure separates the base cost of the recycling program and curbside collection.  The base recycling fee covers all services offered by the County including drop-off recycling sites, brush and yard waste disposal, Clean Sweep events, medication collection, educational and outreach materials and administrative costs.  The curbside collection fee includes the cost of curbside services and administrative fees to run that program. 


For the cities of Altoona and Augusta, villages of Fairchild and Fall Creek, and all towns the recycling fee will be reduced to $12 on the tax roll with an additional $1.25 per month or $15 for the year if you receive curbside collection.  This additional charge will be collected by your waste hauler on the County’s behalf.  Waste Management customers who have recycling only services may have an additional charge on their bill.  This charge is a mistake and Waste Management is working diligently to rectify this, please contact Waste Management to have this charge reimbursed.

For City of Eau Claire residents, including the 16th Ward located in Chippewa County, the entire $27 recycling fee will be collected by haulers on the County’s behalf.
